Introduction

Welcome to the repository of the Tsukihime Remake open source translation. It contains all the resources of the game (text, pictures and videos) that can and should be translated. You can check the progress of the translation on the website below: https://tsukihimates.com/progress/

This project will use heavily the deepLuna extraction/edition/translation/injection script that is available in the following repository: https://github.com/Hakanaou/deepLuna

Injecting Already Translated Text into game

I don't understand from the guide on how to mod tsukihime with the translation to actually insert what's already been translated, I got to the very end of the setup guide but I'm completely clueless on how to inject the translations into the game, cause I don't understand where the "upload" folder is supposed to be Screenshot 2021-10-05 002845

  • Script folder name change causing issue with updating game script

Script folder name change causing issue with updating game script

So I was attempting to update my game script as I usually do, but I noticed with the latest update on here, the script folder is now differently named/organized than it was before. As a result, when I usually just drag the "1_0_2current_en_script" into the deepLuna update folder and press open translation, the game script would not update and instead opens the main translation box. I checked the log within VScode (I use that to run the script because cmd and powershell don't like to cooperate with me) and it tells me the same thing being "Bad number of pages in "game script file"". So I'm not entirely sure on what I should do to be able to update everything like I would before.

I'll also post SC's to help explain my point further in case my wording was confusing Screenshot 2022-01-09 135557 Screenshot 2022-01-09 135645 Screenshot 2022-01-09 135741

    Salt Shaker Day 2 Edits.txt

Now that I have a bit of a break from college, I'm gonna see how many of these I can proofread before the first patch releases. These days have all been proofread by multiple people at this point, so my changes are going to be mostly minor/subjective. Feel free to change or veto anything I propose here.

  • Faster / filename-safe mrg patching

    Faster / filename-safe mrg patching

Added some tools to this project, specifically mrg_extract/mrg_pack and nxx_decompress/nxgx_compress to hopefully allow some finer manipulation of the game data files. They are also a lot faster than BMS - doing a full repack with the new script is ~8 seconds, most of which is converting PNGs to textures. If the PNGs are already converted, doing a full extract / compress cycle is only ~3 seconds.

HOWEVER, I am currently investigating the meaning behind the final u16 field in the HED entry struct - if I ignore it and leave it zeroes, the game fails to boot, but if I repack the data and copy in the old values it loads fine. It doesn't seem to be a size. Tomorrow will check if it is the number of sub-files in the entry? Until this is resolved, please do not merge.

    Day-1-and-2-cleanup.txt

I'm going to finish the last two scenes in day 2 and then get the ones I skipped on day 1. Once that's done, I think every scene in Arc's route through day 5 will have been proofread by at least three people, so that's cool.

A quick grep for 「“ will show that it's used a lot. Sometimes for random shit and almost always when Vlov speaks.

There are a few other places we might want to introduce it, these are just the conservative ones.

    Other options:

    • Roa's speech in in day 12 (the "men are books" speech)
    • Vlov acknowledging his death
    • the less formal conversation in day 4 after Arc goes more or less back to speaking normally (but still has 「“)

Crash to title screen during Day 6 Arach visit

When given a choice during the event 'Have Prof. Arach take care of me' on the 6th day, you're able to select something along the lines of 'once in a millennium'. This choice sends me back to the title screen.

  • Incorrect translation (line repeated form further up) on Line 303 of 01_00_ARC01_1.txt

Incorrect translation (line repeated form further up) on Line 303 of 01_00_ARC01_1.txt

Hey, I'm a Japanese learner doing my own translation of Tsukihime for practice and using your translation to check against, and I've noticed that on line 303 of 01_00_ARC01_1.txt, the translation of the line further up - line 333 - is there in place of what the actual japanese text says,

    人工の明かりに慣れきった眼に、覚めるような陽が差しこんだ。

which is something closer to "The sun hit my eyes, acclimatised to the artificial light, like I was being awoken from sleep."

I assume your more experienced translators have their own translation there that just didn't get copied in, but thought I'd make you aware of the issue.

The idea is that Arc doesn't actually need to actively spend time reading up on stuff and learning about things. She naturally gains the information, which is the link to them talking about 'experience outweighing theory'.

Deal Or No Deal was a very popular game show. Even now, for a family party, it's a fun game to pass time. I made a code to play the game right in your terminal/console. This isn't made to be a game which can be installed by everyone and played, I just made it as a fun project as I just started out with python. So if you have python installed and wanna have some fun, or just curious to see how I did this, feel free to check the code out!
