A data parser for the internal syncing data format used by Fog of World.

Overview

Fog-of-World-Data-Parser

A data parser for the internal syncing data format used by Fog of World. The parser is not designed to be a well-coded library with good performance, it is more like a demo for showing the data structure.

My motivation can be found in this blog.

Currently this cannot handle modification, there are some parts I haven't figure out. You can find these by searching TODO in the repo. Contributions are welcome and very appreciated.

I'm also interested in building 3rd party tools for Fog of World, so don't hesitate to share your idea and need with me.

http_server sometimes couldn't fetch the png files

    Problem:

Sometime, http_server couldn't fetch the png files

    Expected:

When browsing 127.0.0.1:8080/index.html, it should show OpenStreetMap and black path on it.

    Problem detail:

Tool has generated index.html, xxxx.png successfully But sometimes, png didn't show up. I only saw a blank OpenStreetMap The python http_server show fetch xxx.png: error 404. But the png file is locate at same directory as index.html

    Probability of this event:

    50%

    Env:

Windows 10 browser: chrome, firefox, edge didn't help shift+f5 didn't help, need to reboot the PC

    Solution:

Using a normal folder as output directory, instead of tmp_folder. Then this issue didn't happen again.

I guess maybe there is a permission problem for Temp folder at Windows OS?

There is also an advantage to use a normal folder for output. The image can be cached. I've done that part.

  • several fix and improvements

    several fix and improvements

    • remove filename length constraints (tiles in European country can have shorter filename?)
    • add checker for last 2 char in filename
    • add parser for block.extra_data (checksum checker and region parser)

Now seems every bit of the data structure is understood!

(plz forgive me for not separating the PRs.)

    add filename check

    Hi there,

I just found that the hex in the file name are exactly part of MD5(tileId). A checker has been added.

I'd appreciate if you can merge my pr.
